A small Christian jewelry business, inspired by my Dad...

My Dad was a true entrepreneur, a natural business man. He loved people and had a way of connecting with others. He supported our entire family. My Dad had experience in so many different industries, and jewelry was his most recent venture. He used to create and sell jewelry on the streets of NYC for several years, post-retirement. He traveled from his home in South Jersey to do this as many days as he could. We all thought he was crazy due to his slowly declining health, but doing this fueled him; it gave him life. He didn't see the point of sitting at home alone in pain when he could be out, living his life, meeting people and making some money. His interest in creating jewelry started many years ago when he saw his niece Deanna creating and selling beaded jewelry in her hair salon, that he helped her start up. She taught him everything he knew about creating his Swarovski crystal pieces.

My Dad passed away in November. As we were going through his home, I found all his jewelry supplies. Without hesitation, I immediately felt the desire to start creating necklaces from his leftover beads and supplies. I made several pieces, very unprofessionally clasping them, but me and my kids had fun doing this together. On Christmas Eve, I saw my cousin Deanna and she showed me how to make a rosary, which helped me to also create other pieces of beaded jewelry, the right way. A couple years ago my Dad sent me a rosary, just like the one he had. He prayed it and loved it so much. Therefore, I naturally thought of creating rosaries and Christian jewelry; he truly inspired my creations.

This small business is in its infancy stage, I don't know where it's going to lead, but I feel this nudge to keep creating my own Christian pieces in his honor, and in God's honor. I found Jesus last year before my Dad passed, and how grateful I am for that timing, because it has helped me through the moments of missing him.

My Dad endured so much pain in his life so whenever I feel my own pain, anxiety, sadness or hopelessness, I now turn to God but will also remember how my Dad survived what so many could not have, over and over and over. God gave him so many extra years on Earth with his family and he showed me what true strength looks like.

I have found that jewelry is a conversation starter. I've always been a jewelry lover myself. I hope my creations help to spread the good news of Jesus, strengthen your faith in God and if you knew my Dad, remember him fondly as the loving, talented, smart, hard-working and generous man he was.

May God bless you today and always.
